Project overview
L7 Group set up FASTag services at three major toll plazas in Maharashtra, making toll payments completely digital.
The deployment helps reduce long queues and waiting times. With FASTag, commuters have a smoother, faster journey, with less traffic congestion and cashless payment.
L7’s team handled the installation so that every system worked efficiently from day one.
The project sits alongside the group’s new data center.
The value of that change is measured in queue length. A cash lane is limited by how fast an attendant can take money and give change; a FASTag lane is limited by how fast a vehicle can be read. Deployment work covers reader installation and alignment, lane configuration, signage and the day-to-day support that keeps a plaza running when a tag fails to read.
FASTag is India’s national electronic toll collection programme: a windscreen tag is read by an antenna at the plaza and the toll is deducted from a linked account, so the vehicle does not stop to pay. Deployment is therefore as much a civil and operational job as a technical one, lane geometry, signage, reader alignment and staff training all decide whether a lane actually flows.
Running three plazas also means handling the exceptions: a tag that is not read, an account without balance, a vehicle in the wrong lane. The support arrangements around those cases are what keep a queue from forming behind a single stopped vehicle.
Electronic tolling also changes what a plaza knows about itself. Every transaction is recorded against a time and a lane, so queue build-up, reader failures and peak-hour patterns become measurable instead of anecdotal, and staffing can be set against the hours that actually need it.
